Michael Lanza, 2012 Knights of York

Lawrence Ferrara Children’s Advocate Award Honoree

On June 1st, The Knights of York honored Michael Lanza in his proactive efforts against autism and other childhood diseases at their Black Tie Gala. Michael Lanza is regarded as a well respected businessman by such esteemed figures as Borough President James P. Molinaro. With his dad, Anthony and his longtime business partner Lou Rovegno, Michael operates the Colonial Funeral Home in Staten Island and a number of other funeral homes in the NYC area. Michael became a board member of the Grace Foundation of New York in 2002 and has become the vice chair and fundraising chair.

Michael Lanza and his family have been valued clients and friends of Whitmore Group for many years. James Metzger did not hesitate to extend his support when he learned that Michael would be honored. The Lawrence Ferrara Children’s Advocate Award is given to the person(s) who go above and beyond the call of duty to support children in need. At the Gala on Friday, it was apparent to Jim that Michael Lanza generates a lot of support for this great organization. Donations and raffle proceeds of approximately $60,000 will benefit The New York Child Learning Institute, The Grace Foundation a well as many other children’s charities.
